Bellevue, Wash. - (March 31, 2014) - UltraBac Version 9.4 delivers support for the Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system and Exchange 2013. It also adds new features to the UltraBac Ux Agent for Linux and the vSphere Agent for VMware® infrastructure.
The vSphere Agent introduces three exciting features to its repertoire. The vSphere backup server may be run from the guest virtual machine (VM) itself. Since no physical backup server is needed, this allows users to install and run backup operations from a VM within vCenter. Another new option is Single File Restore with UAC (user access control) active. This provides secure remote locations with the ability to perform individual file restores. This is ideal for remote locations where ADMIN level privileges are not granted. The vSphere Agent for VMware infrastructure data protection and disaster recovery also added support for NFS datastores.
The UltraBac Ux Agent which provides file-by-file backup protection for a supported Linux server now supports differential backups, as well as new support for RHEL 5.9, 6.3, and 6.4.

A new feature enhancement for the UltraBac Storage Device Manager allows users to keep a specified number of successful backups in the backuppath device. Another additional feature in this release includes a new notes field for UltraBac sets and jobs. A user can maintain detailed information about an individual backup set or entire server backup job through the UltraBac Management Console.
